Lee Coulter (Saturday, July 21, 2018)
Lee Coulter is all about the music. He's so averse to letting the focus shift away from the music that his website currently features an "Anti-Bio" where he discusses this. ("Somewhere on the way, people started buying into the notion that a unique backstory gives someone's music some sort of credibility. I am convinced that this is not how music works.")
We'll respect that intent, and minimize the bio to this: Lee Coulter has opened for diverse artists including Tom Jones, Chuck Berry and Martin Sexton (who said, "The world needs more Lee Coulter songs"), appeared on stage with Jason Mraz, and had Sirius XM's Coffee House channel dub him "The singer-songwriter Discovery of 2011!" for his debut album. Lee is originally from Brisbane, Australia and is now based in San Diego. (If you want more, try this article from the San Diego Reader. And beyond music: Lee has also written three children's books and given two TedXYouth talks.) You could easily say that Lee Coulter writes "positive" songs, but we think this is a mistake. Rather, Lee Coulter is a positive person, and many of his songs naturally reflect that basic orientation. Finally, we'll just say that we've been hearing for several years from people telling us how much they enjoyed hearing Lee Coulter perform his songs. Finally we heard him earlier this year, and found he belonged on our list of "local artists we love". This is good time music that makes you dance and feeds your soul. – Craig Yerkes for San Diego Troubadour Magazine. We've created a YouTube playlist to introduce you to Lee Coulter.
