Berkley Hart Selis Twang (Saturday, August 18, 2018)
![]() If you know Berkley Hart... If you know Eve Selis and Marc (Twang) Intravaia... Then you already know why you'll want to be here Saturday, August 18, for Berkley Hart Selis Twang (BHST). Stellar harmonies, brilliant playing, great songs and stories (and the jokes!) -- and the pleasure of hearing long-time friends sharing their love of music.
"It’s euphoric to sing in a four-part harmony band," says Jeff Berkley, one-fourth of Berkley Hart Selis Twang. "It’s joyful and feels like you’re gonna lift off the ground. I think the audiences feel that, too. That’s the way they talk when we hang out after shows, anyways." The quartet features Berkley with frequent collaborator Calman Hart, along with acoustic songstress Eve Selis and her longtime guitarist/songwriting partner Marc "Twang" Intravaia. Their debut album, with songs co-written by all four members, was released in October 2014. The writing/recording process was unlike typical Berkley Hart or Selis Band projects. Says Berkley, "Everything is a little different. The main thing is the writing. Truly writing with four people, where everyone is involved in the process from beginning to end, isn’t usually easy, much less even really possible. Artists don’t often play well together. This wasn’t like that at all." "Definitely," said Eve Selis. "It’s so much fun to sing in harmony with people that you respect as musicians and as songwriters. And, then, finding different (vocal) parts and doing different takes on things, and discovering it as a group. It’s really, really fun." "What’s really special about this is that these are songs that wouldn’t have happened without this combination of people," Hart added. "Because all of us were writing all the songs." "Jeff did the lion’s share of the work in the studio," Intravia said. "We’d sing our parts and play a little bit, and he would make it all sound beautiful. So he spent a ton of hours on it." BHST hark back to the halcyon days of Laurel Canyon and the West Coast sound, but they do it with a new found edge and it sounds as fresh as a daisy. -- No Depression We've created a YouTube playlist to whet your appetite.
